Intro course
Get the best start at Aalborg Klatreklub!
If you’re new to the club, it’s mandatory to participate in an intro course. Here you’ll learn the most important things about the club, about climbing, and you’ll meet some of your new climbing buddies! During the evening, we’ll introduce you to our facilities and show you how to boulder safely. Before you head home, you’ll get your key chip, so you can access the club and work on your climbing skills whenever it suits you.
Program:
We meet in the kitchen, located on the first floor above the entrance, and start with a short introduction round. Then we’ll give you a tour of the club and show you all the facilities you can use with your membership. We’ll tell you about the club culture, opportunities, and go over safety — both on the floor and on the walls.
After the tour, we head to the bouldering area, where we’ll demonstrate climbing techniques and share some tips. From there, it’s up to you whether you want to keep climbing on your own or hang out with us for the rest of the evening.
We can’t wait to show you your new hangout!
Belay course
In order to climb sport routes on the club’s high walls, you’re required to complete and pass a belay course. This ensures you know how to climb safely on ropes. If you have no interest in sport climbing, then obviously don’t go on a belay course - bouldering requires no belaying, so no certificate is needed.
You need to have participated the intro course before you can join the belay course.
In the course, you’ll learn top-rope climbing, lead climbing, and the necessary belay techniques. The belay course runs over four sessions, and you’ll need to attend all of them to pass. Once you’ve passed, you’ll receive a belay certificate and a club tag for your harness. The tag shows which course you’ve taken (top-rope or lead) and ensures that you’re allowed to climb on the high walls.

Price: 750 DKK (paid upon registration)
For the belay course, you’ll be able to borrow climbing gear from the club.
If you have any questions, you can contact the course and instructor coordinator at sikringskursus@aalborgklatreklub.dk. If you’ve already completed a belay course in another club and have a valid certificate, you can contact the coordinator at the same email to get a club tag for your harness.
All of the club’s instructors are certified climbing wall instructors in both top-rope and lead through Klatring Danmark, and they follow their standards.
When you’ve completed both the intro course and the belay course, you’ve covered the equivalent of Klatring Danmark’s Course 1 and Course 2.
